How DSS Operatives Arrested Herbalist Over Alleged Kidnap, Beheading of Anambra Lawmaker

Details of how an Unubi High Chief and herbalist, Chief Chukwujekwu Onuorah, alias “Egbe-Ejiejeogu” was arrested by the operatives of the Anambra State unit of the Department of State Security (DSS) have been revealed.

His arrest is one of the high profile, and most celebrated arrests in recent times.

The arrested kingpin is a blood brother of revered Queen and Founder of the Famous Egedege Cultural Dance, 80 year old Queen Theresa Onuorah, who hails from Unubi in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Chief Chukwujekwu Onuorah, who was arrested alongside Onuorah, is believed to be in his 70s and third in rank in the cult.

Their arrest was in connection with the abduction, disappearance, beheading and decapitation of the body of Hon Okechukwu Okoye, an Isuofia Aguata-born lawmaker in Anambra State Assembly, who was abducted on May 15, 2022.

Egbe-Ejiejeogu was trailed after through the sim-card of the beheaded lawmaker, which he used to make calls.

The suspect and his alleged accomplices were traced to Unubi, where a ransom running into millions of naira was delivered to them.

They were said to have collected the ransom and still killed and decapitated the body of the lawmaker.

The cell phone of the slain lawmaker was put in monitoring devices during which it was found to have been used by Egbe-Ejiejeogu to make several calls days after he was beheaded.

Egbe-Ejiejeogu, who was tracked home on May 28 and 29, 2022, reportedly escaped through a ditch after several gunshots were fired at him.

Several incriminating items, including guns and bullets and his portrait were said to have been recovered from the house.

Between May 30 and 31, 2022, the cell phone of the deceased was tracked to a private hospital in Awka and the operatives of the DSS stormed the clinic where Egbe-Ejiejeogu was arrested, while trying to board a tricycle.

The DSS operatives had reportedly gone back to the home of Egbe-Ejiejeogu and dragged an aged woman presumed to be his mother. His wife was said to have gone to stay with her daughter in Ekwulobia, who recently put to bed.

The DSS operatives  reportedly later set the houses of Egbe-Ejiejeogu ablaze.
