Former FERMA Chairman Installed National President of Ila Parapo

Ila-Orangun, Osun State, witnessed a momentous occasion on Saturday, January 25, 2025, as Engr. (Dr.) Ezekiel Olajide Adeniji, former Chairman of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), was inaugurated as the National President of Ila-Orangun Parapo.
The grand ceremony, which took place at Igbonnibi City Hall, Palace Square, and the NPF Area Command, Ila, marked the beginning of a new era for the organization, established in 1976 to unite Ila-Orangun indigenes at home and in the diaspora.
Engr. Adeniji succeeded High Chief Paul Ogunrinade, the Ejema of Ila, who, alongside the outgoing executive, played a crucial role in advancing the association’s goals.
The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including Senator Ademola Adeleke, Governor of Osun State, and His Imperial Majesty, Oba Wahab Kayode Oyedotun (Bibiire I, Orangun of Ila). Also in attendance were Senator Biyi Fadeyi, Hon. Clement Akanni, Hon. Dhikrullah Bajepade, and Hon. (Mrs.) Ayobami Awolowo, Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, among others. While the two national lawmakers could not attend in person, they were duly represented.
Commissioning of the Nigeria Police Area Command Office
A key highlight of the event was the commissioning of the Nigeria Police Area Command Office Building, a vital security infrastructure in Ila-Orangun.
The project was a collaborative effort of the previous Ila Parapo Executive Committee, the Senator representing the district, the House of Representatives member, and the Assembly lawmaker. The new structure is expected to enhance security operations and contribute to peace and order in the community.
A Moment of Reflection and Special Recognition
During his acceptance speech, Engr. Adeniji paid tribute to Barr. Mustapha Adebayo Balogun, former Inspector General of Police, for his pivotal role in establishing the Nigeria Police College in Ila-Orangun.
He also honoured several distinguished Ila sons and daughters who had contributed immensely to the town’s development.
In a remarkable gesture, the Ila Parapo Abuja Chapter presented a special gift to commemorate the occasion, symbolizing their continued support for the association’s vision and progress.
Engr. Adeniji expressed deep appreciation to the Abuja Branch of Ila-Orangun Parapo, which nominated him, and to all stakeholders for their trust in his leadership. He reaffirmed his commitment to fostering unity, development, and progress in Ila-Orangun, pledging to build on the foundation laid by past leaders.
The event concluded with cultural performances, goodwill messages, and a renewed commitment from all present to work together for the continued growth and prosperity of Ila-Orangun and its people.
