Elon Musk’s Optimism Vindicates Tinubu Reforms As Lagos APC Slams Opposition’s ‘Gloom Narrative’

The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said it has taken note of recent comments credited to global technology entrepreneur and investor, Elon Musk, on the prospects of the Nigerian economy, describing them as a powerful validation of the ongoing reform agenda of the APC-led Federal Government.

In a statement  by its spokesperson, Mogaji (Hon) Seye Oladejo, the party said Musk’s objective assessment stands in sharp contrast to what it described as the persistent narrative of gloom, decline and hopelessness being peddled by the opposition for narrow political gains.

According to the APC, coming from one of the world’s most influential innovators and investors—whose views are shaped by hard data, market realities and future trends—Musk’s outlook reinforces what discerning observers already know: that Nigeria remains a country of vast economic potential, resilience and strategic relevance, particularly in technology, energy transition, digital innovation and human capital.

The party accused the opposition of thriving on alarmist propaganda designed to undermine public confidence and discredit the reform efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, while credible global voices continue to acknowledge the structural strengths of the Nigerian economy.
It noted that Nigeria’s large and dynamic consumer market, youthful and tech-savvy population, and improving macroeconomic reforms firmly position the country as a destination for long-term investment, contrary to what it called the “basket-case” narrative pushed by political opportunists.

Oladejo said the reforms being implemented by President Tinubu—though bold and sometimes challenging—are already laying the foundation for a more competitive, transparent and sustainable economy, stressing that these are the signals international investors and innovators like Elon Musk pay attention to, rather than what he described as the cynical soundbites of an opposition that offers no credible alternatives.
He added that while the opposition speaks only to its echo chambers, global investors speak to facts, fundamentals and the future, noting that Musk’s comments serve as external validation of Nigeria’s current reform trajectory.

The Lagos APC urged Nigerians, particularly the business community and the youth, not to be swayed by what it called manufactured pessimism, stressing that the economy is undergoing a necessary transition and that history shows nations that stay the course with difficult but responsible reforms ultimately emerge stronger.
The party reaffirmed that Nigeria is open for business, reform is on course, and the future remains promising—regardless of opposition efforts to deny it.
