In a significant political realignment, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, former Deputy President of the 9th Senate, has officially welcomed Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement issued today, Omo-Agege described the governor’s defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as a historic moment that reflects the growing impact of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in promoting growth and national development.

“The leadership of the Delta State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) warmly welcomes His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and all leaders and members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) into the APC,” the statement read. “This historic move highlights the success of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in driving growth and development in our country.”

Omo-Agege assured stakeholders that the party leadership, both at the national and state levels, is managing the transition process with care and foresight to ensure stability within the party and the state. He called for unity among all APC members to fully harness the opportunities that the new alignments present.

“In this renewed spirit of brotherhood in Delta APC, I urge all LGA and Ward Chairmen, their executives, party members, and our teeming supporters to turn out en-masse for the welcome reception of our new members into the APC on Monday, April 28, 2025, in Asaba,” Omo-Agege stated.

The former Deputy Senate President further praised President Tinubu, the APC National Chairman, and the National Working Committee for their leadership, describing the governor’s defection as a reaffirmation of APC’s commitment to delivering progressive governance and a brighter future for Nigerians.

Governor Oborevwori’s defection marks a turning point in Delta State’s political landscape, potentially shifting the balance of power in favor of the APC ahead of future electoral contests.
