David Lyon debunks financial distress claims over Bayelsa poll

The flag bearer of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the November 16th Governorship election in Bayelsa State, Chief David Lyon has dismissed as “campaign of calumny” the claims that he is broke and businesses bankrupt after the general election in the state.

According to Lyon, there has been non form of financial distress arising from bankruptcy of my business and my company and staff of my company have never threatened to embark on any form of industrial action or take laws into their hands as being peddled in some quarters in the social media.”

David Lyon, in a statement issued in Yenagoa on Wednesday assured his supporters, party faithful and the people of the State that the particular trend of media campaign is targeted at achieving nothing but to tarnish his image and attack his personality by people whose preoccupation does not serve the best interest of any bayelsan.

According to him, “I wish to acknowledge concerns expressed by several members of the Bayelsa public regarding campaigns of calumny perpetrated by mischief makers in the social medial which has escalated in recent times.”

“This is to assure everyone that I am not, and have not been at any time, in any form of financial distress arising from bankruptcy of my business and my company and staff of my company have never threatened to embark on any form of industrial action or take laws into their hands as being peddled in some quarters in the social media.”

Lyon noted that businesses around the world have been on hold in view of the prevailing coronavirus pandemic which has limited the daily operations of most businesses around the world However this has not impacted on the multi-faceted operations of his company.

He stated that publications is a deliberate fabrications to stir up public opinion and decried how a large segment of our population treats facts or non-facts which forms the base of most problems in our society today.
He expressed deep concerns that people have chosen to take advantage of his quiet life style to publicise any and every negative thoughts which some critics have taken advantage of to justify attack on his business and his person emphasising that the law will be allowed to take its course in this particular instance.

He however expressed joy that the present day society particularly in Bayelsa and around Nigeria has the ability to draw distinction between people who can draw the line between politics and personal issues.

He however revealed that the necessary security agencies have been authorised to carry out proper investigations into these unfortunate activities by such mischief maker and bring culprits to book which will mitigate against those intending to carry out such unprofessional media campaigns.
