Courts strike out more cases against Tinubu’s candidacy

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja in two separate rulings have dismissed suits filed against the candidacy of the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Both suits were dismissed by presiding judges Justice A. R Mohammed and Justice Zainab Abubakar respectively in Abuja respectively.

Justice Mohammed in the suit FHC/ABJ/CS/ 1094/ 2022 filed by Menuma Suleiman and 3 Ors against Independent National Electoral Commission, All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, National Assembly and Attorney General of the Federation/Minister of Justice struck it out for being a misjoinder of causes of action.

He further held that the Plaintiffs lacked the locus standi to institute the suit having not participated in the presidential primaries complained of.

Suleiman had urged the court to disqualify Tinubu from contesting for the nation’s No. 1 seat, claiming he presented a forged certificate.

Also in the suit FHC/ABJ/CS/ 1114/ 2022 filed by former Minister of State for Education Emeka Nwajuba, Justice Abubakar dismissed the suit for being statute barred having filed more than 70 days from the occurrence of the purported cause of action.

Nwajuba had asked the court to disqualify Tinubu for failing to provide his secondary school certificate. He also said the APC candidate failed to provide the source of the N100m he paid for the APC nomination form.
