What began as a joyous celebration in the Egbeda area of Lagos on Saturday ended in heartbreak, as prominent businessman and hotelier, A.O. Akinyele, tragically slumped and died in the middle of his wife’s 60th birthday party.

Guests gathered to honor Catherine Akinyele’s milestone age were left stunned and grief-stricken as the unexpected incident unfolded. Moments before the tragedy, Akinyele had unveiled a brand-new Toyota Highlander SUV—an extravagant gift to celebrate his wife’s special day. Applause and cheers echoed across the venue as he handed over the keys to the visibly elated celebrant.

However, the atmosphere quickly turned somber during the entertainment segment of the event. As music filled the air and guests took to the dance floor, Akinyele shared a brief conversation with his wife on stage. Within seconds, he suddenly slumped to the ground, leaving everyone in shock.
