‘Celebrity Come Build’ a.k.a. CBNaija, a new reality television show that has been gaining wide acceptance in the social media, began broadcasts on Saturday, 15th of May 2021, transmitting from six national and Europe based cable television channels.

CCBNaija was launched to demystify the acquisition of building and construction skills, while educating the people on building a house from the scracth to the end.

Twelve Nigerians, Ghanaians and South Africans showbiz and entertainment celebrities are involved in the first-of-its-kind reality TV programme, camped in the setting of a building and construction classroom and participating on a construction site, to build two luxury 3-bedroom bungalows worth about $38,000 (thirty eight thousand US Dollars) each.

One of the bungalows, when completed, will be won by a lucky fan of the show with consolation prizes for other viewers.

CCBNaija is currently running on DSTV 408 at 5.30pm; GOTV 108 at 8.30pm, and STARTIMES DTT 100 or DTH200 at 7.00pm (across Africa).

In Europe, viewers can see it on AVO.TV Channel 88 at 7pm Nigerian time; BEN TV London on SKY Channel 195 at 8.30pm Nigerian time, and on all social medias at 8pm local time, including at www.ccbnaija.com, @ccbnaija on youtube, @ccbnaija on instagram, @ccbnaija on facebook, @ccbnaija on twitter.

Mr. Gbola Oba, the CEO of Universal Direct Academia Ltd (ULDA), the parent company of ULDA Media Ltd, which is the brain behind CCBNaija, said that the idea of the reality television show was conceived to encourage the youths’ interest in acquiring building and construction skills.

He stated that ten years years ago, whilst he wanted to do a TV documentary on a returnee automotive expert, Kunle Shonaike, he encouraged him to start a training institute to replicate himself in the nation’s unemployed, underemployed and unemployable youths.

“He replied me thus, “I’m a grease-monkey, if you can help me start and run the school I’ll make it the best in Nigeria”. AUTOMEDICS LTD was registered. That was how I accidentally got into vocational-/skills-/enterprise-empowerment from journalism.”

Oba added that, when the ULDA Training Institute was established in November 2017, the aim was to provide trainings for the youths in the basics of the construction industry; essentially, in brick layering, domestic plumbering, construction carpentry and still fixing.

He said that the idea was not just to start a training institute for training sake or for just producing youths for the job market, but to create an ecosystem that would not only empower people in skills, but make them to be enterprising.

Meet the contestants

The reality TV show, he said, was designed to allow eminent personalities in the Nigerian and African housing industry visit the celebrity contestants once a week, speak on important housing empowerment subjects, mentoring viewers on how as individuals but, importantly, as groups of cooperators and collaborators, they can own their own homes.

Also, every week of the 12-week, daily, 30-minute broadcast, lots of viewers will win corporate giveaways like return tickets to Dubai, building materials and cash prizes, for answering basic construction or celebrities-related questions and voting for celebrities of your choice.

The EDUTAINMENT show is designed to let the good-and-the-great of the Nigerian and African housing industry (who will visit the celebrities once a week to speak to important housing empowerment subjects in a live global broadcast) mentor VIEWERS on how as individuals but, importantly, as groups of cooperators and collaborators they can own their own houses.

This innovative media project (if it gets just 15%-fifteen percent-of the last @bbnaija revenue of N10 billion), Gbola Oba said, was conceptualised to deliver 2500 units of social housing of 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom at N3m, N4m and N5m respectively to Nigerians over a period of 3 years.
