BREAKING: Ganduje Resigns As APC National Chairman

Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has officially resigned as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ganduje, a former governor of Kano State, submitted his resignation letter on Sunday, June 23, but the news became public on Thursday, June 27. The resignation was reportedly tendered following mounting internal pressure and legal challenges affecting his leadership within the party.

Sources within the APC confirmed that Ganduje’s personal belongings have been removed from the party’s national secretariat in Abuja. A top party official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the move was aimed at allowing the party to move forward with minimal distractions.

Ganduje’s resignation follows weeks of controversy, including a suspension notice issued by his ward executives in Kano. Although the Kano APC swiftly dismissed the suspension, a federal court later declined to overturn it, fueling speculation about his continued stay in office.

Party stakeholders are expected to meet soon to appoint an acting national chairman pending a formal replacement. There are also renewed calls from the North-Central zone of the APC, which insists that the chairmanship position should return to their region in line with the party’s power-sharing arrangements.

Ganduje became national chairman in August 2023, following the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

As of press time, no official statement has been issued by Ganduje or the APC National Working Committee.

More details to follow.
