Argentina  today, won their third World Cup trophy at a hard fought final match played against France at the magnificent LuSail stadium in Qatar.

Argentina were the better side outclassing France in the first 45 minutes.

Argentina idol Lionel Messi opened scoring with a penalty for the South American champions while,  winger, Angel Di Maria added a second goal before half time.

But the French fought back in grand style after making some substitutions ,with their talisman, Kyrian Mbappe scoring a penalty and adding the equaliser in quick succession.

The table remained deadlocked until full time but was broken when Messi scored in the 17th minute of the extra time to give Argentina victory at 3-2.

But the fireworks continued as Mbappe won a penalty after a defender deflected his goal bound shot with his hand n the box and scored the resultant penalty, ending scores at 3-3.

The thrilling match was eventually settled with penalty shoot with Argentina scoring four against France’s two.

Argentina will go home with the $42 million grand prize while France picks the runner up prize of $30 million.
