How Asiwaju Tinubu Saved Oshimhole From Forceful Resignation As APC Chairman

The embattled National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole was recently saved from the embarrassment of forceful resignation from his job through the intervention of the National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

News had filtered to town that the Department of State Services (DSS) had asked Oshiomhole to respond to allegations against him over the conduct of the party’s primaries.

Oshiomhole, who was grilled by operatives of the service in Abuja on Monday, was said to have been accused of collecting bribes from some aspirants.

Sources however, revealed that the DSS actually detained Oshiomhole illegally, and wanted to force him to resign as APC chairman, but that he refused to resign.

“But after almost eight hours in custody, Oshiomhole was able to place a call to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who immediately called President Muhammadu Buhari to ask if it was with his approval.

“PMB denied any knowledge and ordered his release. That was how the plan failed.

“This averted what could have caused Oshiomhole his job and I can tell you that those behind all these are still working out other strategies to get the Edo State-born politician out of the coveted office,” said our source.

It will be recalled that Oshiomhole had running battles with some senior members of the APC over the conduct of the just concluded party primaries across the country.

The two leading opposition to some of the decisions of the party on the primaries were Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State.

They both disagreed with Oshiomhole over the governorship candidates from the two states recognised by the party and have vowed to fight him to finish if he failed to recognise their anointed candidates for the 2019 General Elections.
