Justice I.E. Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has warned the former Senator of Kaduna Central senatorial district, Shehu Sani to appear in court or risk having his bail revoked at the next adjourned date.

Sani is being prosecuted by the EFCC on a two-count charge of name-dropping and obtaining the sum of $25,000 from Alhaji Sani Dauda of ASD Motors under the pretence that he will bribe the acting Chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu.

Sani allegedly collected the money to shield Dauda from investigation and make the commission arrest and prosecute one Abubakar Musa.

At the hearing, counsel to the defense counsel, A. A. Ibrahim SAN informed the court that Sani was not in court because his neighbor had just died of COVID-19 as a result of which the Kaduna State Government placed a movement restriction in the area.

After making his argument, he pleaded for a new date. This argument for a new date was objected by Abba Mohammed, prosecuting counsel noting that one of the two witnesses present in court were from the same Kaduna state.

The judge thereafter adjourned the case till July 6,7,8 and 9 for trial.
