In a surprising political development, all three Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senators from Osun State have jointly declared their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as their sole and legitimate presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

In a statement jointly signed on Tuesday in Abuja, the senators — Senator Kamarudeen Lere Oyewumi (Osun West), Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi Ajagunla (Osun Central), and Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi (Osun East) — described President Tinubu as “a symbol of national unity and leadership whose vision aligns with the aspirations of the Nigerian people.”

“We, the three elected senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing Osun State under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, hereby declare our full and unflinching support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the only credible and legitimate candidate for the 2027 presidential election,” the statement read.

They praised Tinubu’s ongoing reforms and policies, citing his administration’s commitment to economic recovery, infrastructure development, and national security. According to the senators, “Nigeria is in a critical phase of transformation, and it is only wise to sustain the momentum with a leader who has shown capacity and resilience.”

The endorsement is expected to stir political reactions across party lines, especially within the PDP, where President Tinubu is a member of the rival All Progressives Congress (APC). Political analysts are already describing the move as a major realignment that could signal wider defections or strategic coalitions ahead of the 2027 polls.

As of press time, neither the PDP national leadership nor President Tinubu’s camp had issued an official response to the development. However, sources within the presidency say the move is being welcomed as “a strong message of confidence in the President’s leadership across party boundaries.”

The development marks a rare moment of bipartisan consensus and underscores the evolving dynamics of Nigeria’s political landscape.
