2 Abuja lawyers docked over alleged forgery, impersonation

Two lawyers, Nsikak Udoh and Farouk Khamgham, were on Thursday arraigned before a Wuse Zone II Magistrates’ Court over alleged forgery and impersonation. ?

The two legal practitioners are facing a four-count charge of criminal conspiracy, forgery, impersonation and giving false information with intention to mislead the public.

They both pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Adama Musa, told the court that one Miss Juliet Aiyedogbon of Gwarinpa, Abuja, ?petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Force Headquarters, Abuja on May 27, 2016.

?Musa said the matter was transferred to the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command?.

He said that the ?complainant’s mother, ?one Mrs Charity Aiyedogbon, disappeared in 2016 .

?The prosecutor said that police investigations, revealed that Udoh and Khamgham, conspired and forged an affidavit and deposed to same pretending to be the missing complainant’s mother.

Musa said that the two, deposed to the affidavit before the commissioner ?of oath at the Federal High Court, Abuja and they mislead the police by saying Mrs Aiyedogbon was in court in person.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 97, 364, 179, 158 and 178 of the Penal Code.

Defence counsel, Edwin Inegedu, prayed the court to grant his clients bail on the most liberal terms.

Magistrate Mabel Bello granted bail to the defendants on self recognition and adjourned the matter until March 30 for hearing.
