We’re studying Ganduje’s query, says Sanusi’s chief of staff

Munir Sanusi, chief of staff to Muhammadu Sanusi, emir of Kano, says the emirate council is studying the content of the query issued to the monarch.

The office of the secretary to the state government (SSG) had issued a query to Sanusi on behalf of Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of the state.

A source said that the query was on alleged financial misappropriation.

The chief of staff confirmed the receipt of the letter, saying the emir was asked to respond within 48 hours.

“We received the query today (Thursday). The state government has demanded the response of His Highness within 48 hours. The council is studying the content,” he said.

The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission had recommended the suspension of the emir after probing the emirate.

The agency said it uncovered that N3.4 billion was misspent under Sanusi. The amount was said to have been misappropriated between 2014 and 2017.

The government of Ganduje had earlier broken the emirate into five, stripping Sanusi of the control of 34 local government areas.

Ganduje is believed to be getting back at Sanusi who reportedly worked against his reelection.

The governor had denied the allegation, saying his actions were in the interest of the people.

Gorilla must vomit the stolen N6.8m – Governor Ganduje orders probe

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje has ordered the state Anti-Corruption Commission to probe the claims by the Kano Zoological Gardens that a Gorilla in the state-owned Zoo swallowed N6.8 million.

A statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the State governor, Abba Anwar, says that the order was given on Friday and the commission has already swung into action.

It quoted the governor as directing the commission to look into the immediate and remote circumstances surrounding the allegation and “unearth everything surrounding the incident.”

Recall that last week, N6.8 million generated during the Eid holiday was declared missing, Some staff of the Zoo had alleged that a gorilla in their zoo swallowed the money.

Expectation Soars On The Bid For Next Kano Speaker.

Speculations and expectation are very high with regards to the current issue of selection of who would occupy the juicy post of the next Speaker of Kano State House of assembly.

 An anonymous and highly dependable source said that the contenders vying for the speakership are running from pillar to post in an adrenalin-speed, lobbying and craving for supports from thier political godfathers in order to plug-in the 3rd position in the state .

“There is a big battle for the post, as the situation is taking a new dimension” the insider disclosed.

He added: “Among the forefront contenders aspiring for the Speakership throne includes; Sunusi Usman Bataiya from Albasu, Comrade Musa Ali Kachako, from Takai, Abdulazeez Gafasa from Ajingi, who was an erstwhile speaker, Salisu Ibrahim Riruwai member representing Doguwa and Zubairu Hamza Masu, the lawmaker representing Sumaila constituency.

As it was announced by the management of the Kano state legislative house, the 9th assembly will commence on Monday 10th June 2019, whereby newly-elected lawmakers and returning members will take the oath of office, and subsequently followed by the pronouncement of the new-elected speaker as well as principal officers who are expected to lead the affairs of the house law-making procedures for the next four year term as enshrined in the constitution.

Creating New Emirate, Among My Proudest Moment – Outgoing Kano Speaker.

The out-going Speaker, Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Kabiru Alhassan Rurum says the creation of four new emirates in Kano is one among the proudest and milestone achievements recorded during his reign of Speakership of Kano State legislative chamber.

Hon Kabiru Rurum made the assertion on Friday while granting last official interview with the assembly’s press crew, shortly after the valedictory session of the Kano 8th assembly.

Rurum, who holds the traditional title of Turakin Rano, says the agitation of creating new Emirates in Kano was a long-standing aspiration for the time immemorial.

“I’m highly elated and overpowered with joy for seeing this dream transform into reality during my reign as Speaker,” Rurum added.

He said apart from this, there is a law, which was amended during his tenure, which he said have been a nightmare for some civil servants such as; Directors, HOD’s and DPM’s which were in past times, were automatically retired as far as one’s spend eight years on that post, even without attaining the retirement age as stipulated by law.

“This predicament in the past has immeasurably inflicted pains and frustration on the victims, to the extent of sending them to premature demise, which is quite disheartening” Rurum sympathised.

While commenting on the challenges moment encountered, the Turaki of Rano, clad in a his signature ensemble traditional white attires, whose face wearing a soberly looks says the hurdles are not far from lack of autonomy suffered by the Kano state assembly in particular, and the rest from other states in general.

“I do hope the teeming 9th assemblies across the federation would enjoy the autonomy which would enable them to outperform their predecessors as far making credible laws to the betterment of the people is a concern” He urged.

“I served in peace, and leaving in harmony, which is my proudest moment worthy of to praise God for his unflinching support and guidance” Hon Rurum asserted.

During the 8th assembly, Kano State House of assembly passed resolution on over 68 motions focusing on the needs of various constituencies in the State.
