Vice President Osinbajo, Sheds Light on Kano Power Sector

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday emphasised the need to get the private sector involved with government to bring power to Kano State.

Prof. Osinbajo stated this while receiving the Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture led by its president, Alhaji Dalhatu Abubakar, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Vice President spokesman, Laolu Akande.

According to him, “If we can bring a substantial amount of investment in power to Kano, we can really make a difference. So, I am looking forward to working with you on power,”

He said closer collaboration between KACCIMA and the Federal Government is very important to economically move the state and Nigeria forward.

“Anyone who understands the history of business in Nigeria cannot in any way diminish the importance of the Kano business community,’’ said the statement.

In the statement, Osinbajo said when the country started the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council, in engaging the partnership that will move the initiative forward, Lagos and Kano had to be the two focal points for the implementation of the reform plans.

The statement added that the Vice President said the regular interface between the private sector and the Federal Government would continue because of their contribution to the development of the economy, especially in creating employment.

Osinbajo assured that the federal government would do everything possible to support the business community in Kano.

Thugs Attack Kwankwaso In Kano

The convoy of former governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso was attacked by thugs in Kano on Tuesday.

It was gathered not less than three utility vehicles in his convoy were destroyed during the incident, which occured close to a three star hotel in the city.

The incident was said to have occurred shortly after Kwankwaso conferred with the Chairman of Kano State PDP ward Congress, Governor Fintiri.

A statement by Ibrahim Adam, spokesman to Abba Kabir Yusuf, 2019 PDP gubernatorial candidate in Kano said “the leader escaped unhurt ”

Adam said: “While leaving the hotel, some hired thugs attacked the convoy of Sen. Kwankwaso and destroyed 3 cars belonging to some of our House of Assembly members.”

He added: “But, Alhamdulillah, the congress was successful. They couldn’t achieve what they want to achieve.”

Fatima Ganduje Ajimobi, Daughter of the Kano state Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje has once again come for her father’s critics, days after the state government dethroned Muhammad Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano.

Taking to her Instagram story, the governor’s daughter said there has been no single riot in Kano as expected by others, following the crowning of another Emir, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero.

Fatima also said she would rather a worker than a talker, a subtle jab at the deposed Sanusi, who was critical of Ganduje’s administration.

Kano Emirate: Ganduje Presents Letters of Appointment to New Emirs, Kano, Bichi

Kano state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has presented letters of appointment to the newly appointed emirs of Kano and Bichi emirates respectively.

The new Emir of Kano Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero and Emir of Bichi , Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero both officially received their appointment letters at Kano Government House in an elaborate ceremony.

First Weekly Magazine recalled that their appointments was sequel to the deposition of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II as Emir of Kano on Monday and subsequent appointment of former Emir of Bichi, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero as Emir of Kano. Both new emirs were sons of the late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero.

While announcing the dethronement of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II on Monday, the Secretary to the  State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji,  for disrespecting the office of the governor and other government agencies.

According to him, Emir Sanusi’s action violated the part 3 section A-E of Kano state law, hence the removal.
