Ryan Giggs invites brother Rhodri to his New Year’s party after four years of not speaking over Man United legend’s affair with sibling’s wife

Ryan Giggs has invited his brother Rhodri to his New Year’s party after barely speaking to each other for four years after the Manchester United legend had an affair with his sibling’s wife.

It is understood Rhodri has agreed to attend the shindig and patch up his relationship with his older brother after Ryan’s eight-year relationship with Natasha Giggs, who has since divorced Rhodri, 39.

The party is said to be taking place either at Ryan’s £4million mansion in Worsley, Manchester, where he lives with wife Stacey Cooke and their two children, or at a nearby restaurant.

As previously reported, Ryan, 42, now assistant manager at United, apologised to his brother earlier this year for the affair and the pair were spotted chatting in a bar in Manchester at Easter.

Now it appears they are taking things a step further by coming together for a major family event.

A source told the Daily Star Sunday: ‘Both the lads want to patch things up and have done for some time – but neither would really make the first move.

‘In the end they’ve come to the conclusion that life’s too short, and what has been don’t can’t be changed now.’

Rhodri had previously said he would only consider reconciliation if ex-Welsh international Ryan made the first move and apologised for his actions.

The affair was first revealed in June 2011 when Rhodri’s wife Natasha admitted an eight-year affair with the former star winger.

Natasha also said she had aborted Ryan’s baby just weeks before she got married to Rhodri in Las Vegas.

She decided to go public in 2011 after Ryan Giggs’ controversial attempt to place a gagging order on Big Brother star Imogen Thomas after their six-month affair ended.

He spent £150,000 getting a High Court injunction against her.

However, his attempt to silence her fell apart after a sustained Twitter campaign that resulted in an MP naming him in parliament.

In January 2012, Natasha went on to Celebrity Big Brother, where she openly talked about the affair to her fellow housemates.

Natasha originally left Rhodri but the two later unsuccessfully tried to reconcile, and they divorced in 2013.

Natasha, 32, had a son last year with a new partner while Rhodri has also remarried and has a baby son.

We were treated, flogged like cows – OOU law graduate narrates ordeal in kidnappers den

Published

Motunrayo Rafiu, a graduate of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, who regained her freedom last Sunday after spending six days in the den of kidnappers has narrated her ordeal.

She was released after her family paid a ransom of N1 million.

She told ThePunch that her abductors were Fulani herdsmen who disguised in army uniform.

Motunrayo Rafiu was abducted on February 4, 2020, by suspected kidnappers in the Kabba area of Kogi State, while she was on her way to resume at the Abuja campus of the Nigerian Law School.

It was gathered that when Rafiu could not be reached on her telephone, she was declared missing by her friends, who posted her pictures on social media.

Rafiu, who spent six days in the kidnappers’ den, was released on Sunday

Narrating her ordeal in the den of her abductors, the 22-year-old noted that she and other victims were made to walk barefooted in what she described as a wilderness.

She said,

“While on my way to resume at the Nigerian Law School, Abuja, just before Obajana in Kogi State, we saw that some people numbering about 20 in army uniform blocked the road and we thought that they were soldiers on a routine patrol. But all of a sudden, they started shooting continuously and everybody ran for safety. They, however, caught up with us.

“At first, I wondered if they were Boko Haram insurgents or Fulani herdsmen because they wore masks and had sophisticated guns. You don’t have a choice but to cooperate with them.

“Eight people were abducted and we were made to trek into the wilderness. We trekked and climbed rocks barefooted for the six days we spent in their den; we were treated like cows. If you dared to walk behind them, they would flog you as if they were dealing with cows.

“When we got to their base, some of their workers that also rear cows came to greet them and they started dishing out instructions to the workers. I was made to cook food for the rest of the passengers; we were given rice and palm oil to eat.

“I only urinated three times for the whole six days because we had to take permission before we could do anything. While I was there, I believed that I would come out alive; I encouraged the other victims.”

On the ransom, Rafiu said:

“When they demanded N5m from my family, I told them the situation of things at home and where my mother works so the ransom was reduced to N1m, while others paid N2m and above, depending on their status. No one should go through this kind of experience.”

SUG President Says He Was Charmed To Secret Cult Initiation Ground

Published

The Students Union President of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun State, Adegboye Olatunji has denied membership of any secret cult, saying he was charmed and taken for the initiation.

Olatunji was arrested during a cult meeting, putting on the regalia of the secret cult, Neo Black Axe Movement, by the police allegedly following a tip off from the public.

After his arrest, the institution suspended him and the Students’ Representative Council of the institution also suspended him from office.

Parading the SUG president and 77 suspected criminals, at the Police headquarters, the state Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson disclosed that Olatunji confessed to involvement in cultism, saying “He was apprehended with his regalia and we have refused to let him pull it off so that he doesn’t deny, and you can see it for yourself.”

Speaking with journalists, Olatunji said, “I never confessed any of such thing to him (referring to the Police Commissioner).

Explaining how he got to the bush, the day he was arrested, he said, “I don’t know how I got into the bush. I was charmed, I don’t know how it happened.

“Before I knew what was happening, they have started beating me. What I heard was that ‘I know how to fight on behalf of students that house rent is high,’ that’s what I heard and they tore my clothes, put me inside the boot and took me to school.

“I was going to the church around 7 am on Sunday, I left the school’s hostel. When I was leaving, I greeted the security man and told him that I will be back probably at 3 pm, that my brother called me to come for the service and I want to rush there.

“I sent a message to the choir coordinator of my church that I am going to Judah parish, in llaro, my Rector is also going to that church and he hates anything cultism.”

“They didn’t fight for me because they didn’t make their proper findings. If I was shot dead there, that’s how they will say that the SU president has gone.”

Questioning the other suspect arrested alongside Olatunji, he said, “I am not a cultist, I didn’t see him (SUG President) before we were brought here, I swear to God who made me, I don’t know how I got to the bush.”
