Lists Of Roads Lagos Govt Will Be Working On Immediately

Lagos Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has declared a state of emergency on all Lagos roads and has mandated some selected construction companies to start work on rehabilitation as from today.

The roads that will be rehabilitated and reconstructed include but are not limited to;

IKEJA ZONE – Network of roads in Oregun

IKEJA G.R.A – Network roads in Ikeja G- R- A

Badagry (from Agbara to Badagry) – Agboju to Okokomaiko

IKORODU ZONE – Ketu /Ojota section of Ikorodu – Ijede road to Ewu-Elepe – Oba Sekumade road – Agric Isawo road – Imota to the rice mill

EPE ZONE – Eleko junction to T- junction at Epe – Itoikin- Epe road – Completion of network of road up to Noforija/ Mojoda ( existing contract )

LEKKI AJAH – Abraham Adesanya Roundabout to Eleko Alternative Route to Admiralty circle plaza Lekki

VICTORIA ISLAND – Network of roads in Victoria island – Network of roads in Oniru estate – Water corporation drive

ABULE EGBA – Ekoro bridge, Abule Egba – Lagos Abeokuta expressway from Abule Egba to Sango to tollgate

MUSHIN – Idi Oro road, Mushin

IKOYI – Network of roads in Ikoyi

LAGOS ISLAND – Apongbon road – Idumagbo avenue

SURULERE – Babs Animashaun , Surulere

BADAGRY – Lagos Badagry expressway from trade fair to okomaiko ( existing contract) –

These are some of the roads that will be worked on immediately to reduce the stress people on these roads go through daily. We will update you with images as we get feedback from various locations across the state as work begins

Fela’s statue at Allen Avenue pulled down by Lagos State Government

Two years after former Governor of Lagos state Akinwunmi Ambode commissioned a statue of Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti at Allen Avenue in Ikeja, the monument has been pulled by the state’s government. 

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s spokesperson, Gboyega Akosile who confirmed that the statue has been pulled down, said the roundabout where the statue was situated made the list of four roundabouts identified by the current administration as the major cause of gridlock in the state.

Other roundabouts that causes gridlock in the state were said to be located at Ikotun, Lekki-Epe expressway and Maryland. Akosile also told newsmen that the artwork will be relocated to a spot where it won’t cause traffic jam.

BREAKING: Police detain House of Reps member, Shina Peller, in Lagos

The police in Lagos State have reportedly arrested and detained a member of the House of Representatives, Shina Peller, at the Moroko Police Station.

Peller, who is representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency, Oyo State, was allegedly arrested while trying to take the bail of some clubbers.

The lawmaker is the owner of a popular Lagos club, Quilox.

A statement by Peller’s Press Secretary, Kola Popoola, claimed that the lawmaker’s offence was not disclosed to him as his phones were seized.

He said, “Peller was at Moroko Police Station to bail some of Club Quilox’s customers who had allegedly parked on the road during a show at the club.

“Prior to the kickoff of the 36 hours non-stop show which usually holds every year at Quilox, Peller had informed the concerned Lagos traffic authorities to avoid unnecessary traffic gridlock.

“On getting to Moroko Police Station, the police started harassing Peller and even went as far as seizing all his phones for no reason.

“The continuous harassment and unjust detaining of a member of House of Representatives,Peller, by the police calls for urgent attention of the media, and the Commissioner of Police.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, did not take his calls and had yet to respond to a text message on the incident.

Security Guard drilled over death of Chartered Accountant killed in Ikorodu

The Commissioner of Police Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu has ordered an in depth investigation into the death of Mutiu Agbosasa, the chartered accountant who was murdered in Ikorodu few months after returning to Nigeria from the United States where he lived for 45 years. 

The deceased’s security guard identified as Rohis Adamu Dana, has been placed in custody for questioning after reporting the incident to Ijede Police Station. 

44-year-old Adamu who disclosed that it did not occur to him to call neighbouring security guards for help, said he was sent to alert the police about the attack by his boss. 

A statement released by Lagos Police spokesperson, Elkana Bala reads; 

The Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu psc has ordered an in depth investigation into the death of one Mutiu Agbosasa ‘m’ of Ginti Estate, Ijede, Ikorodu. On 15/12/2019 at about 2.30am one Rohis Adamu Dana ‘m’ a security man working with the said Mutiu Agbosasa reported at Ijede Police Station that his boss send him to call the Police. A team of Policemen led by the Divisional Police Officer rushed to the scene. Police found the corpse of the victim in his vehicle burnt beyond recognition.

The crime scene was cordoned off for forensic examination. Homicide detectives and forensic experts from the State Criminal Investigation Department were deployed to the scene for analysis. The corpse of the deceased person was evacuated to hospital for autopsy. The security guard who is 44 days old in the employment, was placed into custody for questioning.

In his statement, he stated that, on 14/12/2019 at about 10.30pm, he opened the gate for his boss to drive into the house and while closing the gate, four strange men entered the house through the pedestrian gate. That he heard his boss shouting that he should run and call the Police. That it did not occurred to him to call neighbouring security guards for help. Investigation is ongoing with a view to unravel the circumstances surrounding his death and to identify those behind the gruesome murder. Meanwhile, security is beefed up in the Estate.
