As the expansion and reconstruction of International Airport road in Oshodi/Isolo is ongoing, the legislator representing Oshodi/Isolo Constituency 2 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Honourable Jude Idimogu, has lauded the Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode on the project and siting of projects in the constituency.
The lawmaker said this while addressing members of the Lagos State House of Assembly Correspondents Association (LAHACA), at the Assembly Complex, Alausa, Ikeja.
Idimogu explained that the expansion of the International Airport road would help in boosting the economy of the constituency as well the state.
According to him, the expansion of the road would add more value to the constituency and the socio-economic activities of the constituents thereby increase the economic standard of the residents.
The lawmaker explained further that the constituency has been benefitting tremendously from the Ambode-led administration since the beginning of the administration, stressing that the constituents should cooperate with the state government and contractors on the execution of the project.
“My constituency has benefitted a lot from Governor Ambode’s administration and I will appeal to my constituents to give massive support to the government as the expansion period may take months before completion,” said Idimogu
The lawmaker added “I will appeal to our performing Governor to also look at the link roads in the constituency as they need more attention.”
He called on the construction company to provide alternative routes for the commuters so as to ease traffic as the project implementation is ongoing.
The lawmaker also implored Ambode to construct pedestrian bridges at the Oshodi- International Airport roads as there have been high foot fall in the area.
When asked on what the Education Committee of which he is a member will do on the terrible situation of some public primary schools ( Fadu Memorial Pry School, Imakiyo Pry School and Ageke Pry School)  in Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in his constituency, the lawmaker assured that the situation would be addressed once the committee is through with public Model Colleges in the state.
He explained “I have visited the public primary schools myself and I can agree with you that the situation of the schools is bad. I can assure you that the Education Committee would look at it after we are through with model colleges. But let me tell you, the Lagos State government has been up and doing in the education sector and I know that it will do more.”
Speaking on the proscription of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) by the South East Governors’ Forum, the legislator explained that the governors had done the best to ensure that there is peace in the geopolitical zone, saying that the unity of Nigeria is sacrosanct.
“The proscription of the IPOB by the South East Governors was a good decision and a good step in the best direction for the peaceful co-existence of Nigeria. I want to say that the unity of Nigeria is sacrosanct.
“What my brother ‘Nnamdi Kanu supposed to put forward is his position and relate with other ethnic nationalities on what he wants. If he articulates it well to them, they will buy into his idea. Articulating his positions in a violent way is not acceptable and it should be totally condemned.”
