Allegation of Tribalism Trails Minister of Labour And Productivity, Chris Ngige

Allegation of tribalism is currently trailing the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Senator Chris Ngige.

Investigations revealed that the Minister, who we learned was returned to the Ministry against the will of labour leaders in the country, has turned the ministry to his personal enclave, and that it is being run as an extension of Igbo Land.

It was alleged that the key positions in the ministry have been given to the people of the South East, where the Minister hails from and that this has led to a lot of disaffection amongst the staffers of the ministry.

Our source maintained that the Minister had no regard for the people of other tribes and that morale of the staff of the ministry is at the lowest ebb.

We gathered the alleged attitude of the Minister caused the staff and stakeholders in the ministry to lobby President Muhammadu Buhari not to reappoint Ngige as Minister in the ministry, but that he lobbied his way back, which was why he was given the portfolio again.

Sources disclosed that the attitude of the former governor of Anambra State led to the latest reshuffling in the ministry when the former Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, Senator Tayo Alasoadura was transfered to the Ministry of Niger Delta, while Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN) was moved from Niger Delta Ministry to Labour and Productivity as Junior Minister.

It was revealed that Festus Keyamo is as popular in Aso Rock as Chris Ngige and that President Buhari was advised to pair the duo so that Keyamo could serve as his nemesis.

“Barrister Festus Keyamo was moved from the Ministry of Niger Delta to Labour and Productivity because they believe he is the only one that can tackle Senator Chris Ngige.

“Ngige is so tribalistic to the extent that in a recent opening for 400 candidates in the Ministry, 285 of them are South Easterners.

“It is so bad that the Ministry of Labour and Productivity is now regarded as a Biafran Ministry reserved for the people of the South East,” said a source in the ministry.

We were reliably informed that the whole scenario in the ministry now is people of South East first then others follow, though this was denied by a source, who said that the “Minister has been fair to all, he is not a tribalist.”
